ASPHALT PLANT GROUNDPERSON
Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently looking for a seasonal Asphalt Plant Groundsperson
Some of the qualities/skills we are seeking in candidates include:
- Knowledge of Asphalt plants, conveyors, loaders, equipment considered an asset
- Passion for safety and knowledge and understanding of the Safety Act and relevant standards
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Perform general maintenance and general repairs and regular service on equipment daily
- Perform pre-shift inspection, maintain equipment repairs/maintenance records
- General cleanliness of assigned equipment.
- Perform other related duties as required
- Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, bend and lift up to 80 pounds
- Physical abilities including long periods of standing, lifting, working at heights
- Minimum of 1 year related experience required
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Welding/torch cutting experience desired
- Communicate effectively with Plant Operator
BASE AND EXCAVATION LABOURERS
Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently searching for seasonal Base and Excavation Labourers for our City division:
Duties/Skills Required:
- Ability to work out of town if necessary
- Previous experience in the construction industry an asset
- Ability to work in all weather conditions – primarily outdoors
- Must hold valid driver’s license
- Ability to complete physical work including shoveling and sweeping and lifting
- Operating packer, checking grade, spotting trucks, digging for utilities
- Ability to work long hours and some weekends based on business needs
- Punctual, reliable, and hard working

CLASS 3 BASE/WATER/TANDEM DRIVERS/LABOURERS
Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently hiring seasonal Class 3 Base/Water/Tandem Drivers/Labourers
Duties include:
- Operate the Tandem and equipment safely
- Perform maintenance check and pre trip inspections
- Ensure proper loading of aggregates and verify the type and weight of materials being hauled
- Ensure on-time delivery of aggregates and other road construction materials
- Maintain truck box to remove any/all debris when necessary
- Perform miscellaneous labourer activities throughout the day as necessary
Requirements include:
- 2 years’ experience in road construction industry preferred
- Confident ability to back up loaded trailers
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License and clean abstract
- Knowledge of construction materials
- Must be physically fit ability to lift, bend, and regularly climb in and out of vehicles
- Good attitude, punctual, ability to work independently as well as with others
- Must be able to take direction well and communicate effectively
- Ability to work extended hours including weekends if necessary
FLAGGERS

Requirements:
- Direct and control traffic safely on the construction site
- Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day time / night time)

QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN – MATERIAL TESTING AND INSPECTION
Duties of the Position:
Perform a wide variety of tests primarily associated with the production and placement of products associated with road construction materials such as, aggregates, concrete and asphalt products. This will include but is not limited to; onsite testing and sample collection, distribution checks for asphalt / base operations, spot checks behind paving spread (slope, width, temperature and density), concrete plastic and strength testing and data collection / entry.
Requirements for the position:
- Previous material testing an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (mainly Excel)
- Capable of lifting to 30 kg
- Mechanical Knowledge an asset
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Problem solver, decision maker, and ability to work independently
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Available to work overtime throughout work week including weekends
- Regular out of town work
- Means of transportation and hold a valid class 5 Driver’s License

SEWER AND WATER PIPELAYERS
Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently seeking Sewer and Water Pipelayers to join our team.
Requirements for the position:
- A minimum 2 years’ related experience that includes ability to install fire hydrants, valves, water services, manholes, catch basins and piping. He/She must be reliable, able to work long hours, and work out of town on occasion.
Security and Safety
- Basic security clearance; Criminal record check; driving record check (abstract)
- Steel-toed safety boots and hard hat are required
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Physically demanding position including work in various weather conditions, able to work some emergency work on weekends

TRAFFIC COORDINATOR
Reporting jointly to the Traffic Supervisor and Site Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for the logistics of all traffic while on a highway crew. This position coordinates flaggers and traffic to ensure motorists are managed while on the highway.
Duties Include
- Collaborate with crew Supervisor and direct employees
- Ensure compliance with safety
- Record and update daily journal
- Setup of traffic zones as per specifications
- Maintain the set-up and take-down of signage
Specific Skills
- Previous highway coordination is preferred
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

TRAILER TECHNICIAN
This position is for the successful candidate with a wide variety of experience in on-road trailer repair including CVIP inspections, servicing, abs diagnostics, troubleshooting, brake, and suspension repairs. He/She must be able to work independently.
As the Trailer Technician your duties will include:
- Inspect and maintain equipment
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment
- Maintain equipment as required by equipment manufacture and company safety program
- Keep record of and track all repairs and parts invoicing
- Prioritize repair and maintenance requirements
- Assist in safe operation of equipment
- Lock out and tag out defective equipment, inspect equipment for safe operation
- Mobile Repairs
- MGSI Manitoba Government Safety Inspections (if qualified) and/or Repairs
- Other duties as assigned
Your experience includes:
- High School or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum level 1 Apprentice up to Journeyman or relative experience considered.
- Comfortable with using computers
- Previous welding experience an asset
- MGSI certification considered an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Requirements:
- Our candidate must have a complete set of Mechanic’s hand tools on their first day of employment
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 3 or 1 License with Air Brake Endorsement an asset)
