Key Responsibilities:

Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently hiring seasonal Class 3 Water/Tandem Drivers/Labourers for our Country Base Crew (work outside of Winnipeg) and City Base Crew
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the truck and equipment safely
- Perform maintenance check and pre-trip inspections
- Ensure proper loading of aggregates and verify the type and weight of materials being hauled
- Ensure on-time delivery of aggregates and other road construction materials
- Maintain truck box to remove any/all debris when necessary
- Perform miscellaneous labour activities throughout the day as necessary

DOZER OPERATOR
Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently looking for a Dozer Operator in our Highway Division
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Dozer to ensure that work is carried out according to company policies and procedures
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tank
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
- Secure special attachments to equipment
- Operate dozer controls to regulate height and angle of a dozer blade and lower ripper to loosen packed soil to permit grading
- Understand, interpret, and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
- Operate a dozer within an active site occupied by other heavy equipment and ground personnel, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings

- Operate Grader to fine grade tolerances, spread & push piles of sand, soil and aggregate materials to the specified grade
- Clean and perform basic maintenance to equipment and report any necessary requirements
- Safely Operate Grader on public roadways, maintaining awareness of surroundings and utilities
- Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings

HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC APPRENTICE/JOURNEY PERSON
Under the supervision of the Shop Foreman and Journey Person, the Apprentice/Journey Person will assist in diagnosing, overhauling and repairing all aspects of the Company fleet vehicles and equipment.
Duties will include:
- Diagnosing and repairing the following: diesel and/or other internal combustion engines, transmissions and/or hydraulic equipment, all related electrical and auxiliary equipment
- Developing a working knowledge of the technical and administrative procedures necessary to perform the duties of a Journeyperson heavy duty equipment technician
- Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble and maintain equipment and perform other routine maintenance work
- Ensure repairs and maintenance follow manufacturer specifications and safety regulations
- Complete work orders upon completion of each job
- Diagnostics with a computer
- Training and directing Apprentices may be required
Your experience includes:
- High School or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum level 1 apprentice
Requirements:
- Our candidate must have a complete set of Mechanic’s hand tools on their first day of employment

MACHINE CONTROL ASSISTANTS

2 positions in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba (living allowance benefit)
Under the supervision of a Surveyor, the seasonal Machine Control Assistant is responsible for assisting in the set-up and operation of the Robotic Total Station, and GNSS machine control for our paving operations. The successful candidate(s) will work closely with other survey and field crews to fulfil the needs of the business, working primarily from May to November each year.
As a Machine Control Assistant your duties will include:
- Preliminary survey and control setup
- Constructing Surface models and Alignments
- Setting up multiple Robotic Total Stations for Asphalt/Concrete Pavers and Graders
- Troubleshooting various Machine Control issues
- Daily travel to jobs will be required
Your experience includes:
- Basic understanding and use of total stations, leveling instruments, and global positioning system (GNSS) equipment, with working knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, standards and construction methods

Under the supervision of the QC Manager, the seasonal QC Technicians will perform a wide variety of tests primarily associated with road construction materials – aggregates, concrete, and asphalt products. The successful candidates will work closely with other QC Technicians and field crews to fulfil the needs of the business, working primarily from May to November each year.
As a QC Tech your duties will include:
- On-site testing and sample collection
- Distribution checks for asphalt & base operations
- Concrete plastic and strength testing
- Data collection and data entry into computerized programs

- Haul material from excavator in quarry

Under the supervision of a Surveyor, the seasonal Surveyor Assistant will perform a wide variety of tasks including civil design, commercial development, paving and site services, residential developments, street reconstruction, residential site services, and parking lot repairs and maintenance. The successful candidates will work closely with other survey and field crews to fulfil the needs of the business, working primarily from May to November each year.
As a Surveyor Assistant your duties will include:
- Site lay-out
- Topographic surveys
- Road and Site Design
- Quantity/As built measurements
- CAD based data prep
- Creating 3D surface models
- Using GNSS, Robotic Total Station, and Drone equipment for Survey and Machine Control

TRAFFIC COORDINATOR
Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently searching for a seasonal (May-Nov) Traffic Coordinator.
Reporting jointly to the Traffic Supervisor and Site Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for the logistics of all traffic while on a highway crew. This position coordinates flaggers and traffic to ensure motorists are managed while on the highway.
Duties Include
- Collaborate with crew Supervisor and direct employees
- Ensure compliance with safety
- Record and update daily journal
- Setup of traffic zones as per specifications
- Maintain the set-up and take-down of signage

This position is for a candidate with a wide variety of experience in on-road Truck-Trailer repair including inspections, servicing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, brake, and suspension repairs. They must be able to work with minimal to no supervision.
As a Truck & Transport Technician, your duties will include:
- Inspection, Diagnosis, maintenance and repair the following: diesel and/or other internal combustion engines, transmissions, drive train, ABS, suspension, general air brake repairs and/or hydraulic equipment, all related electrical and auxiliary equipment, etc.
- Manitoba Government Safety Inspections (if qualified) and/or repairs
- Developing a working knowledge of the technical and administrative procedures necessary to perform the duties of a Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic
- Computer Diagnostics
- Training and directing Apprentices (If Experienced or Qualified Journeyperson)
- Trailer repairs as necessary
- Other duties as assigned

Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently looking for a seasonal Weigh Scale Clerk to work at our Quarry in Stonewall
Duties include:
- Operate electronic scale program to weigh trucks, ensuring accuracy in output tickets
- Ensure accurate information of scale weights and transactions of incoming and outgoing trucks, recording all information daily
- Use hand-held mobile radio devices to effectively coordinate tasks and resources between the quarry and scale
- Maintain an organized scale house and ensure all paperwork/ invoices is up to date and is filed properly
- Keep work area clean and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
