ASPHALT PLANT OPERATOR

The successful candidate will assist the Plant Supervisor in the overall operation including production, quality control/assurance, health and safety issues and employee training and development.  This includes the following:

Duties and Requirements of the position include:

  • Prepare and mix asphalt with types and quantities of product required from paving supervisors
  • Oversee the controls for the asphalt plant for the day to day operations
  • Have previous experience in a manufacturing plant
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and advanced computer skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving with the ability to troubleshoot
  • Physical – ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and carry up to 50 pounds and climb ladders
  • Previous experience driving skid steer, front end loader and forklift preferred
  • Ability to work extended hours and in all weather conditions
  • Must have valid driver’s licence
  • Ability to work long hours and some weekends based on the business needs
  • Load and unload asphalt cement
  • Communicate with dispatch, scaleperson, groundmen to determine product, loads, quantities, etc.
  • Conduct hot and cold starts
  • Calibrate plant at beginning of project both oil and aggregate
  • Tracing and ordering Asphalt Oil/Burner Fuel
  • Directly a/o indirectly operate plant controls to properly manufacture hot mix, warm mix and/or cold mix asphalt to specification
  • Work with plant employees in production and distribution of product including groundmen and loader operators
  • Make periodic inspections of plant units to assure proper functioning
  • Assist in maintenance and repairs of the plant equipment and facilities as needed

QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIANS

to join our team.

Duties of the Position:

Perform various testing on materials being produced (Asphalt, Concrete and Aggregates)

Travel to different projects and pits to preform required testing

Communicate with Quality Control Manager on testing results and production

Preform daily maintenance on testing equipment

Daily data entry and tracking of material and results

 

Requirements for the positon:

Previous material testing an asset

Proficient with Microsoft Office (mainly Excel)

Capable of lifting up to 30 kgs

Mechanical Knowledge an asset

Strong time management skills

Strong customer service skills and ability to work well with others

Problem solver, decision maker, and ability to work independently

Ability to work in various weather conditions

Regular out of town work and travel and the ability to work weekends as required

Means of transportation and hold a valid class 5 Driver’s Licence

Requirements for the positon:

A minimum 2 years’ related experience that includes ability to install fire hydrants, valves, water services, manholes, catch basins and piping.  He/She.must be reliable, able to work long hours, and work out of town on occasion.

Security and Safety
Basic security clearance; Criminal record check; driving record check (abstract)

Steel-toed safety boots and hard hat are required

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
Physically demanding position including work in various weather conditions, able to work some emergency work on weekends

AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN

The successful candidate will inspect, maintain, and repair company vehicles and perform safety checks and vehicle inspections for licensing and insurance.

OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Inspect, maintain and repair equipment
  • Perform safety checks and vehicle inspections for licensing and insurance
  • Identify mechanical and electrical problems by using computerized diagnostic equipment and schematics
  • Test parts and systems to ensure they are working properly
  • Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined
  • Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, giving tune-ups, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires
  • Repair or replace parts
  • Maintain and repair small gas engines
  • Disassemble and reassemble parts
  • Use testing equipment to ensure repairs and maintenance are effective

Requirements and Experience:

  • Ability to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per shift during peak season including weekends)
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License ( Class 3 or 1 License with Air Brake Endorsement an asset)
  • candidate must have a complete set of Mechanic’s hand tools on their first day of employment
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision at times
  • Work within a group and/or independently
  • Must be physically capable of routine manual labour components of the position, which may include heavy lifting
  • Be detail oriented, mechanically inclined and have the ability to trouble shoot
  • Minimum of level 2 to journeyman with future education opportunities
  • Electronic systems experience in GM, Ford and Dodge products an asset

HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor, the technician will be diagnosing, overhauling and repairing all aspects of the Company fleet vehicles and equipment.

As the equipment technician your duties will include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing the following: diesel and/or other internal combustion engines, transmissions and/or hydraulic equipment, all related electrical and auxiliary equipment
  • Developing a working knowledge of the technical and administrative procedures necessary to perform the duties of a Journeyperson heavy duty equipment technician
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble and maintain equipment and perform other routine maintenance work
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance follow manufacturer specifications and safety regulations
  • Complete work orders upon completion of each job
  • Diagnostics with a computer
  • Training and directing Apprentices may be required

Your experience includes:

  • High School or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum level 3 up to journeyperson

Requirements:

  • Our candidate must have a complete set of Mechanic’s hand tools on their first day of employment
  • Must be physically capable of routine manual labour components of the position, which may include heavy lifting (up to 100lbs), maneuvering within or around large equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, diesel exhaust fumes and chemical agents used in the mechanical field
  • Strong computer skills
  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to problem solve
  • Follow the safety program including all policies, procedures and practices
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per shift during peak season including weekends) and be on-call as required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision
