Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently in search of a

SERVICE MANAGER

The Service Manager will lead and manage the overhaul and direction of the shops through standardized processes, centralization of duties and elimination of redundancies.  The position accountabilities are to:

  • Develop and implement the procedures for the shops to operate with a standardized real time work order process including service write-up and scheduling, work order hand off to the shop floor, work in process on-floor including parts supply , finished work quality and completeness, work order preparation and sign off for closing and final billing and filing
  • Centralize the scheduling and prioritization of all repairs and maintenance of Maple Leaf Construction equipment
  • Implement a master schedule and work towards a preventative maintenance program that includes all internal and external repairs
  • Monitor, manage and improve service department efficiencies to work to reduce redundancies and streamline shop processes within all locations
  • Create and implement an electronic service log to greatly enhance interdepartmental unit repair status communication
  • Work with Shop Supervisors and Equipment/Shop Manager to centralize our mobile field service division to drive tech productivity and reduce duplication
  • Develop strategies to reduce supply chain costs and regular reviews and maintains supply chain functions to continuously improve vendor delivery dates
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and develop audit processes with input and participation from co-workers
  • Upgrade/train technicians and integrate service alerts with GPS system, develop a live system with alerts for upcoming service
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in consultation with management
  • Work in conjunction with Operations Manager and Equipment Manager to develop and implement processes for estimating repair costs that includes an approval process
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in a similar role in the service industry
  • Knowledge of various brands and types of construction equipment and medium/heavy duty trucks
  • Proven success in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and successfully implement new procedures
  • Success with leading and developing a team including strong communication, coaching and mentoring
  • Proficient with computer systems with strong organization skills, excellent analytical skills with the ability to problem solve
  • Experience management departmental costs and budgets based on business needs
  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma or equivalent experience in service operations
  • Certification of a mechanical background is a strong asset
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Is able to manage a hectic workload and pace
