Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently looking for an aspiring

HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor, the technician will be assisting in maintaining and repairing concrete and asphalt related equipment.

As the equipment technician your duties will include:

  • Setup, repair and maintenance of all heavy duty equipment
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble and maintain equipment and perform other routine maintenance work
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance follow manufacturer specifications and safety regulations
  • Complete work orders upon completion of each job

Your experience includes:

  • High School or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 2 apprentice up to Journeyperson Red Seal
  • Previous welding experience an asset
  • Class 3 or higher considered an asset

Requirements:

  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Must possess Mechanic’s hand tools on their first day of employment
  • Must be physically capable of routine manual labour components of the position, which may include heavy lifting (up to 100lbs), maneuvering within or around large equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, diesel exhaust fumes and chemical agents used in the mechanical field
  • Computer skills an asset
  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to problem solve
  • Follow the safety program including all policies, procedures and practices
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per shift during peak season including weekends) and be on-call as required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision

HEAVY DUTY APPRENTICE

Under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor and Journey Person, the apprentice will assist in diagnosing, overhauling and repairing all aspects of the Company fleet vehicles and equipment.

As an apprentice your duties will include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing the following: diesel and/or other internal combustion engines, transmissions and/or hydraulic equipment, all related electrical and auxiliary equipment
  • Developing a working knowledge of the technical and administrative procedures necessary to perform the duties of a Journeyperson heavy duty equipment technician
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble and maintain equipment and perform other routine maintenance work
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance follow manufacturer specifications and safety regulations
  • Complete work orders upon completion of each job
  • Diagnostics with a computer
  • Training and directing Apprentices may be required

Your experience includes:

  • High School or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum level 1 apprentice

Requirements:

  • Our candidate must have a complete set of Mechanic’s hand tools on their first day of employment
  • Must be physically capable of routine manual labour components of the position, which may include heavy lifting (up to 100lbs), maneuvering within or around large equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, diesel exhaust fumes and chemical agents used in the mechanical field
  • Strong computer skills

AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN

The successful candidate will inspect, maintain, and repair company vehicles and perform safety checks and vehicle inspections for licensing and insurance.

Other Duties Include:

  • Inspect, maintain and repair equipment
  • Perform safety checks and vehicle inspections for licensing and insurance
  • Identify mechanical and electrical problems by using computerized diagnostic equipment and schematics
  • Test parts and systems to ensure they are working properly
  • Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined
  • Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, giving tune-ups, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires
  • Repair or replace parts
  • Maintain and repair small gas engines
  • Disassemble and reassemble parts
  • Use testing equipment to ensure repairs and maintenance are effective

Requirements and Experience:

  • Ability to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per shift during peak season including weekends)
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License ( Class 3 or 1 License with Air Brake Endorsement an asset)
  • Candidate must have a complete set of Mechanic’s hand tools on their first day of employment
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision at times
  • Work within a group and/or independently
  • Must be physically capable of routine manual labour components of the position, which may include heavy lifting
  • Be detail oriented, mechanically inclined and have the ability to trouble shoot
  • Minimum of level 2 to journeyman with future education opportunities
  • Electronic systems experience in GM, Ford and Dodge products an asset

PARTS & SERVICE SUPPLY CLERK

Location:  777 Erin St. Shops

 Start Date:  Immediately

 

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) exchange program to existing employees and new hires
  • Ensure parts are ordered accurately and delivered in a timely and efficient manner as per supervisors’ and mechanics’ requests
  • Reference equipment parts manuals assuring correct parts are acquired
  • Shop and research for competitive pricing
  • Perform inventory on a regular basis to ensure all stock min/max levels are accurate
  • Receiving and shipping of all materials
  • Keep records/files up to date including data entry
  • Coordinate with outside suppliers regarding acceptable stock levels
  • Work effectively as part of the team
  • Maintain parts room organization and cleanliness
  • All other duties as assigned by management

 

Hours of Work

  • Full time
  • Monday to Friday 6:00am – 5:30 pm
  • Overtime as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent computer skills and an understanding of computerized parts programs
  • Previous experience in automotive/heavy truck/equipment parts department, inventory or warehousing considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and positive attitude
  • Excellent verbal, written and effective listening skills along with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience working under pressure and setting priorities with the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Hold a valid class 5 drivers’ license
