SURVEYOR

This position is responsible for survey, design and machine control duties.

Requirements include:

  • Solid understanding and use of total stations, leveling instruments, global positioning system (GPS) equipment (RTK), laser alignment equipment and other surveying equipment that may be used.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, standards and construction methods.
  • Working knowledge of identifying and interpreting survey control monuments.
  • Diploma in Geomatics, Survey or Municipal Technology from an institute of recognized standing
  • Minimum two (2) years directly related experience
  • Must be physically capable of routine manual labour
  • Hold a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Able to work in all weather conditions and outdoor elements
  • Available to work 50-70 hours per week and be available for on-call weekend work as required

Duties include:

  • Site layout and staking
  • Topographic surveys
  • Quantity/As built measurements
  • Rod and Level Surveys
  • Operating GPS and Total Station for Survey and Machine Control applications

Skills include:

  • Solid decision maker and problem solver
  • Strong attention to detail including a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Comfortable using computers and excel spreadsheets and CAD software
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision and independently

TRUCK DISPATCHER

The Dispatch position will execute the day to day activity of drivers to meet our business needs.  This includes scheduling drivers, accurately distributing information to the team. The role will be responsible for identifying and resolving issues relating to day to day activities of the drivers.

As the Dispatcher you will:

  • Supervise and organize drivers (internal/private)
  • Aid in recruiting driver positions
  • Coordinate drivers to ensure they are scheduled and available for work as necessary
  • Assign drivers to jobs throughout the day and for the next day including out of town jobs
  • Manage driver performance issues, absences or concerns
  • Organize daily records (including abstracts log books, hours) and documents information
  • Request and updates permits as required in coordination with other dispatcher
  • Conduct daily GPS monitoring and reporting
  • Handle complaint calls and investigate accidents/incidents through to completion and follow up
  • Attend and conduct regular safety meetings with drivers

Requirements and Experience necessary to be successful:

  • Experience in fleet transportation and dispatch environment
  • GPS fleet management experience
  • Knowledge of hours of service requirements and legislation
  • Strong organizational and priority management skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work up to 12 hours per shift during peak season
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • At times manage phone calls /texts/emails during off hours

This position is responsible for setting up and operating Robotic Total Station and GNSS machine control for our paving operations.

Requirements include:

  • Solid understanding and use of total stations, leveling instruments, global positioning system (GNSS) equipment, Working knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, standards and construction methods.
  • Working knowledge of identifying and interpreting survey control monuments.
  • Diploma in Geomatics or Municipal Technology from an institute of recognized standing preferred
  • Directly related experience preferred
  • Must be physically capable of routine manual labour
  • Hold a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Able to work in all weather conditions and outdoor elements
  • Available to work 50-70 hours per week and be available for on-call weekend work as required

Duties include:

  • Preliminary survey and control setup
  • Constructing Surface models and Alignments
  • Setting up multiple Robotic Total Stations for Asphalt/Concrete Pavers and Graders
  • Troubleshooting various Machine Control issues

  • Strong attention to detail including a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Comfortable using computers and experience with Civil3D and/or Trimble Business Center
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision and independently
